Lung cancer nurse specialist, Chris GarlickChris-tal clear advice from hospital's lung cancer expert

A lung cancer information drop-in service has been launched by a cancer nurse at Ipswich Hospital.

Chris Garlick, lung cancer nurse specialist, is holding monthly drop-in sessions for lung cancer patients and their friends and relatives.

The sessions are in the Cancer Information Centre in the hospital’s Woolverstone Wing.

Mr Garlick said: “This is an opportunity for people to ask me questions about all aspects of lung cancer, a time when friends and relatives who perhaps can not come to the hospital during the working day can come and meet me. People will also be able to meet other people in a similar situation and receive support from other patients and their relatives."

The hospital diagnoses around 200 people with lung cancer every year, mostly smokers in the over 65 age group.

All the resources in the Cancer Information Centre will be available to use, and the sessions will provide information and advice on matters relating to lung cancer.

The sessions are on the first Monday of every month, between 6pm and 8pm. Tea and coffee is available.

For more information on the sessions, call Mr Garlick on 01473 704932, or click here to e-mail Chris.
