Why are surveys important?
Surveys provide us with a wealth of information about our patients’ experiences. This feedback is then used to inform quality improvement programmes and to create a more patient-centred and responsive service.
If you get the opportunity, please take part in one of our regular in-house surveys – or if you have comments or feedback about our services please complete a Speak Out form or speak to the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0800 328 7624.
Or click here to complete our online feedback form about your most recent contact with this hospital.
Ipswich Hospital inhouse surveys
In 2007 we developed our Patient Feedback Survey Strategy. These surveys allow us to drill down and identify patients’ experience at ward or specific service level in a quick and timely way providing us with fresh and up-to-date information.
This information enables us to develop accurate and focused action plans – which aim to improve services – eventually being demonstrated in better overall performance in the National Patient Survey.

The National Patient Survey is a key tool for measuring our performance and comparing it on a national scale – the Healthcare Commission
and others use the results of the surveys to build up a national picture of people's experience for comparisons of:
- performance of different organisations
- changes over time
- variations between different patient groups
These surveys provide us with invaluable information across the organisation as a whole and in comparison with other hospitals.
