By Bus
The Ipswich Hospital is on several bus routes within Ipswich. Suggested buses are:
First Group: Bus 64,64A,65 (hourly) and 66 (every 15-20 minutes) from the Rail Station or Old Cattle Market Bus Station Monday to Saturday daytimes.
Ipswich Buses: Bus 5 or 11 from Tower Ramparts Bus Station. Bus 5 runs every 15 minutes until 7pm Monday to Friday and will drop you directly outside the hospital. Bus 11 runs every 15 minutes until 7pm Monday to Friday and will drop you on the opposite side of the road to the hospital. Please cross the road carefully using the crossing points provided.

By Car
The hospital is situated to the east of Ipswich town centre on the A1189 (Heath Road). It is clearly signposted ‘Accident Hospital’ from the A14, A14 and the inner ring road.
From Norwich
Leave Norwich on the A140 heading south until it joins the A14. Turn east towards Ipswich and Felixstowe. Continue over the Orwell River bridge and take the next exit. Turn left on the A1189. Continue across two roundabouts, turn left at next roundabout (opposite Sainsbury’s). Continue along A1156/A1189, across next two roundabouts. Hospital is on your left-hand side as you enter a section of dual carriageway.
From Cambridge / Midlands
Join the A14 eastbound until you reach the Ipswich area. Continue over the Orwell River bridge and take the next exit.
Turn left on the A1189. Continue across two roundabouts, turn left at next roundabout (opposite Sainsbury’s). Continue along A1156/A1189, across next two roundabouts. Hospital is on your left-hand side as you enter a section of dual carriageway.
From Colchester / Chelmsford / London
Travel north-eastwards along the A12 until it joins the A14. Turn right at the interchange to join the eastbound A14. Continue over the Orwell River bridge and take the next exit. Turn left on the A1189. Continue across two roundabouts, turn left at next roundabout (opposite Sainsbury’s). Continue along A1156/A1189, across next two roundabouts. Hospital is on your left-hand side as you enter a section of dual carriageway.

By Train
Ipswich is on the mainline route from London to Norwich and is also receives services from Cambridge, Peterborough, Bury St. Edmunds, Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth and stations in-between.

From Ipswich Station it is then possible to catch the bus 64,64A,65 (hourly) or 66 (every 15-20 minutes) to the hospital.
Park & Ride
Ipswich has three Park & Ride stations located on the outskirts of town. Whichever direction you approach Ipswich along the main roads you will be able to access a Park & Ride station. They are located along the A14 at the junctions with the A1156 (North-West Ipswich); A12 (central Ipswich) and at the A12/A1214 junction at Martlesham Heath.
The Ipswich Park & Ride bus scheme provides a return service between Martlesham and London Road stopping at the Woodbridge Road entrance to The Ipswich Hospital. Current fares are £3.50 for up to 5 passengers from London Road to the Hospital and £3.00 for up to 5 passengers from Martlesham. Buses run every 10 minutes in both directions

Cycling
Signed local cycle route 4 is the easiest way from the town centre to the hospital. There are cycle parking facilities on site at the hospital.

Walking
The distance from the town centre to the hospital is approximately 3 kilometres (2 miles). The most direct routes from the town centre are by Woodbridge Road, Spring Road or Foxhall Road / Heath Road.
Please note that all these routes are uphill in parts.
